GET ready for a thrilling day of community spirit, family fun, and fierce football rivalry as Hastings United Football Club opens its doors on Sunday, 10th May, from 10am, for a special Family Football Fun Day.
The event promises excitement for all ages, culminating in the highly anticipated annual staff match between Conquest Hospital and Eastbourne DGH.
The day kicks off with a celebration of local youth talent, as the Hastings United Academy Kids and Youth teams take to the pitch for a series of friendly games. It’s a fantastic opportunity for families and friends to support the rising stars of local football and catch a glimpse of the future of the sport in Hastings.
Next up will be an inclusive Football Friendly Match between Hastings United and Eastbourne Borough Inclusive and Disability Football Teams. Highlighting the need for more inclusive sporting opportunities.
And finally, the hotly contested Annual Hospital Cup. Staff teams from Conquest Hospital and Eastbourne District General Hospital will go head-to-head in what has become a legendary local fixture. The Conquest Hospital team currently boasts an impressive record, having secured victory in four out of the last five encounters. All eyes will be on the pitch to see if they can extend their dominance or if Eastbourne DGH can finally snatch the trophy back.
“This event is more than just football; it’s about bringing our community together, celebrating our local talent, and showing appreciation for our incredible NHS staff,” says organiser Jo Clark from The Friends of Conquest Hospital “The rivalry between Conquest and Eastbourne is always a highlight, and we’re expecting another passionate display from both sides!”
Beyond the beautiful game, there will be plenty to keep the whole family entertained. Exciting football-themed games the PowerShot Challenge and FootDarts, traditional fair games, a tombola brimming with prizes, and a lucky dip will provide endless fun for children. Hot food provided by Hastings United and waffles and ice creams from The Waffle Wagon will be available throughout the day, and the licensed bar will be open for adults to enjoy refreshments and soak in the vibrant atmosphere.
The Family Football Fun Day is a brand-new collaboration between Hastings United Football Club, Sussex Police and The Friends of Conquest Hospital, with funds raised on the day going to support our local hospital.
