THERE are seasons in football that follow the script, and then there are seasons that test whether you even believe in the script at all.
This was one of those. The headline will always read the same: relegation for the men’s team. It’s a word that carries weight, judgment, and for plenty of people, finality.
But football, the kind that lives in communities and in hearts rather than spreadsheets, rarely tells its full story in one line. Because while one chapter closed, several others exploded into life.
Let’s start with the women. Unbeaten. Let that sit for a moment. An entire season without defeat (actually 2). A title won not through luck or moments, but through consistency, belief, and a collective spirit that refused to bend.
The story still isn’t finished. Two cup finals remain. Two more chances to turn excellence into a legacy. What they’ve done isn’t just winning.
It’s redefining what’s possible at this club. It’s what happens when culture, commitment and clarity all point in the same direction. Culture is contagious. It’s put Eastbourne down as a centre of excellence for women’s football.
Off the pitch, we’ve been just as busy. This year, we launched the padel centre. Some might call it diversification. For us, it’s something more deliberate.
It’s about building a destination that doesn’t just live or die on a Saturday result. One that creates its own ecosystem of revenue, energy and opportunity. Ancillary income isn’t a side story. It’s the engine that allows us to invest back into what matters most.
Better facilities, better pathways and a better future. Then, there’s the community. You can feel it. Not in metrics but in moments. More young people are engaging with the club. More presence in schools. The growth hasn’t just been numbers. It’s been something you can sense.
The spirit of football in Eastbourne is alive and, more importantly, it’s growing, which is exactly why the launch of the Eastbourne Borough Foundation matters so much. This isn’t a bolt-on. It’s a commitment. A commitment to using football as a genuine force for good. To reach further, go deeper, and build something that outlasts any single season. Because if we’re building a football club, we’re also building a responsibility.
Responsibility needs vision. Sometimes it’s about joy, too. The moments that remind you why you do all of this.

So yes, the men’s season didn’t go to plan. That’s the truth. But here’s the other truth: progress is rarely linear.
The ladies walking football team won silverware on their tour of Spain. So many successes throughout the youth system and a big commitment to make the Boro an elite pathway.
Sometimes you take a step back and realise how far you’ve actually come. Sometimes adversity sharpens identity.
The most important wins happen when nobody’s looking at the league table. This season gave us clarity. Clarity on what we stand for. Clarity on where we’re going. Clarity on the fact that this place is bigger than a division.
We are building something here. A football club that competes, a business that sustains, a community that believes.
Belief, when it’s real, doesn’t disappear with relegation. It will get stronger.
