EASTBOURNE Bonfire Society will mark its 25th anniversary this October with plans to return its torchlit procession to the town centre for 2026.
To mark their silver jubilee, Eastbourne Bonfire Society’s procession plans to pass through the town before heading to the seafront for a bonfire and fireworks display near the Wish Tower. Bands and the society’s giant effigy will join the procession, which the society says will be its ‘biggest and best ever’.
However, after two years of meticulous planning, roadworks on Terminus Road could force changes if they are not completed before Eastbourne Bonfire Night on October 3rd.
EBS Sponsorship Manager Richard Holley said: “We’re excited to bring our event into the town this year. Our society was rekindled with humble beginnings, and it’s taken 25 years to reach this point. We’re hoping the roadworks are finished in time so we can deliver our event for the town as planned. If not, we’ll still burn brightly – but stick to our usual route!”
The society, which traces its roots to the Victorian era, marched through the town centre for many years and since reforming in 2001, has held its annual celebrations on the seafront.
