October is going to be busy at the Borough

WHAT a month September has been so far. Five wins on the bounce for the men. I honestly can’t remember the last time we did that.

All eyes are now on Saturday, and our trip to Oxfordshire to face Thame United in the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. Win that and win one more, and we’re in the First Round Proper. We haven’t been there since 2020/21. Imagine that.

Whatever happens in the cups, October is rammed with football

After Thame we’re off to Carshalton Athletic on Monday 5th. Then it’s Welling United at home on the 10th, St Albans City away on the 17th (unless the FA Cup gets in the way, and I hope it does!) and the FA Trophy on the 24th. Squeeze in midweek trips to Three Bridges on Tuesday 20th and Maldon & Tiptree on Tuesday 27th, and we finish the month back at Priory Lane against Ramsgate on Saturday 31st. Plenty of chances to come and see us.

But what we’re building here is about a lot more than 90 minutes on a Saturday

This month we open the new Martello Lounge & Simulator Centre, and I’m really excited about it. You can play some of the best golf courses in the world, grab a drink and have a proper night out. Bring your mates, bring your team, book your Christmas party or your corporate do, or just come down for an evening that’s a bit different. Fancy a round at Pebble Beach without leaving Eastbourne? Now you can.

Then there’s padel

We’re now running mix-ins every single day, so if you’ve never picked up a racket, this is your moment. You don’t need three friends and you don’t need to be any good. Just turn up, meet some new people and find out why everyone’s hooked. Fair warning, it’s addictive.

Prefer to take someone on one-on-one? We’ve got the only singles padel court for miles.

There’s something else taking shape too.

We’ve now got six treatment rooms available to rent, four for individual practitioners and two shared. What I want is a home for people who help others look, move and feel better. Hair, barbering, nails, beauty, massage, physio, sports therapy, osteopathy, counselling, reflexology, aesthetics, you name it.

If that’s you, come and talk to us. There’s parking, easy access, coffee on site, a brilliant nursery next door with Owletts and, best of all, a busier community around you every single day.

This is what I mean when I talk about Eastbourne’s Sporting Village.

Football is our heart and it always will be. But I want this place buzzing seven days a week. The men, the women, padel, golf, fitness, wellbeing, local businesses, food and drink, parties, friends and families, all under one roof.

There’s also a lot going on behind the scenes, and I’m hoping October brings some exciting news about what comes next. Watch this space.

So if you haven’t been down for a while, come back. If you’ve never been, come and see what you’re missing. And if you’re already one of our regulars, do me a favour and bring someone new.

Come for a match, a game of padel, a round of golf, a drink, or to build your business. Whatever brings you, we love seeing you at the club.

Thank you, Eastbourne. Come and be part of it.
