A PERSONAL trainer who admits running has never been his strength has raised £1,435 for St Wilfrid’s Hospice by completing a 10km run every day for a month.

Tyler Goldsmith took on the month-long challenge in August to thank the Eastbourne hospice for caring for his grandma, godmother and uncle. He completed 310km and raised almost three times his original £500 target.

Tyler said: “Hospices need money to keep going and I wanted to do something to help. I’ve never been good at running and wanted to test myself, so decided to run 10km every day of August. I set a target of raising £500 – which I reached before the fundraiser even began.”

The summer heat made the challenge tougher, but support from family, friends and unexpected donors helped keep him going.

He added: “Running every day was definitely a challenge, but I received a lot of support from friends and family and they helped me raise £1,435. People donated who I haven’t spoken to in years, and even some that I’ve never met.”

St Wilfrid’s Hospice’s Fundraising Assistant, Megan Upton, said: “We were so impressed with Tyler’s challenge, especially when he did it in the middle of a heat wave. I was delighted to meet him to receive the money. Every penny raised will go towards helping to deliver hospice care to our local community.”

St Wilfrid’s Hospice provides care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses across Eastbourne, Seaford, Hailsham, Uckfield, Heathfield and surrounding communities.
