EASTBOURNE News is continuing to grow its reach across the town, with new independent research highlighting strong readership, awareness and engagement among residents.
The findings come from a survey of 600 people across Eastbourne, Hailsham and Bexhill, carried out in March 2026 by customer experience specialist insight6, with the aim to compile data in relation to the individual titles in each town.
In Eastbourne, the study found that nearly half of residents (46.72%) had read or looked through Eastbourne News in the past four weeks, demonstrating active readership within the community.
The survey also revealed that around 68% of readers notice adverts in the newspaper, highlighting the visibility of content within the publication.
Across all three towns, almost 60% of people (59.75%) were already aware of their local newspaper, while 45% said they read every or most issues, showing consistent engagement with local print.
The research was conducted through face-to-face street interviews, providing an independent snapshot of how people interact with local newspapers in everyday life.
The findings come at a time of continued growth for Eastbourne News, which has increased its print run from 15,000 copies to 16,000 in March, rising again to 17,000 copies from April 2026.
Copies are available at key pick-up points across the town, such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Morrisons, and other smaller outlets.
Group Editor, Paul Gibson, said the results reflect the growing presence of Eastbourne News within the town.
He said: “Eastbourne News is still a relatively new publication, but we’ve focused on building strong distribution and consistent content from day one.
“To see nearly half of residents reading the paper already, alongside continued growth in print numbers, is very encouraging and shows we’re heading in the right direction.”
Insight6 director Paul Matthews added: “The results clearly demonstrate the strong presence and ongoing relevance of local newspapers within their communities.
“In Eastbourne, it’s particularly positive to see both growing awareness and strong levels of engagement with the publication.”
