VOTERS in two East Sussex wards have chosen new representatives following local by-elections held on Thursday (10 July).
In Polegate, Mickey Caira of Reform UK has been elected to serve as Town Councillor for the Polegate North ward.
Polegate Town Council issued a statement following the result: “We are pleased to announce the election of Mickey Caira to serve as Councillor for Polegate North Ward. We extend our congratulations and look forward to their contribution to the work of the Town Council and the wider community.”
Meanwhile, in the Wealden District Council by-election for the Horam & Punnetts Town ward, Diane Susan Gould of the Green Party was elected as District Councillor.
Her victory adds to the Green Party’s representation in the district, with voters showing support for environmentally focused policies and sustainable development.
Both new councillors are expected to take up their positions immediately, bringing new voices to their respective councils at a crucial time for local decision-making.
