Man remanded in custody following Eastbourne stabbing

A MAN charged following the stabbing of a 13-year-old boy near Eastbourne seafront has been remanded in custody.

Kyle Saupe, 20, of Cavendish Place, Eastbourne, appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (22 September). He has been charged with wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon and is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on 20 October.

The boy was stabbed in Grand Parade, near the junctions with Elms Avenue and Cavendish Place, at about 5.10pm on Sunday (20 September). He is recovering at home.

Four other people arrested in connection with the incident, two boys aged 16, a boy aged 17 and a woman aged 22, have been bailed with conditions while enquiries continue.

Police are asking anyone with CCTV, mobile phone or dashcam footage from the area between 4pm and 6pm to call 101, quoting serial 1096 of 20/09. Detective Inspector Rob Tillyer said officers would maintain an increased presence in the area and asked people not to speculate while the investigation continues.
