A 30-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with a series of driving-related offences after police tracked a stolen supermarket van from Eastbourne to Newhaven.
Officers were called to Sovereign Harbour Retail Park on Pevensey Bay Road at around 6.20am on Friday, January 30, following reports that an Asda delivery van had been taken.
Police initiated a tactical pursuit, bringing the vehicle to a controlled stop in The Fairway, Newhaven.
Shane Brett, 30, of Cinque Foil, Peacehaven, was arrested at the scene. He was charged the following day (January 31) with theft of a motor vehicle, burglary other than a dwelling, dangerous driving, and driving without third-party insurance. He was remanded in custody.
Brett appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court later that day and was further remanded. He is scheduled to appear at Lewes Crown Court on March 2.
