POLICE are searching for four boys in connection with a suspected arson attack that destroyed part of the former Moira House School in Eastbourne on Sunday evening (October 19).
Emergency services were called to the disused building on Upper Carlisle Road at around 5.40pm after reports of a large fire. Firefighters from across East Sussex spent several hours tackling the blaze, which investigators now believe was started deliberately.
No one was injured in the incident, but the historic school building suffered significant damage.
Police say four boys were seen entering the site earlier in the afternoon and are being sought as part of their enquiries. Officers are appealing for witnesses and anyone with CCTV, dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage from the area between 3.30pm and 6pm to come forward.
A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “We are keen to speak with anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Upper Carlisle Road area or who may have information that could help identify those responsible.”
