RECORD temperatures, wildfires and drought – what’s really happening with climate & nature in the UK and what can we do about it?
The People’s Emergency Briefing film shows what climate and nature breakdown means for the UK, and how climate change is affecting people in their everyday lives, from rising food prices to flood risk and pressure on public services.
East Dean is hosting a second free screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing on Friday 4 September,10.30am to 12.30pm in East Dean village hall. (Doors open at 10am).
The film features Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden and leading voices from across science, economics, health and national security.
It shows that we already know what to do to turn the tide on escalating climate change; the research and modelling have already been done. Solutions such as shifting to renewable energy, protecting and restoring nature, reducing waste and overconsumption exist today.

Screenings are taking place throughout the UK and are for everyone. Since its launch in early April, nearly 3,000 screenings have happened or been organised. There are also film showings across Sussex. Check the map for more details
The Peoples Emergency Briefing is part of The National Emergency Briefing (NEB), a growing public information campaign to ensure that Parliament and the people are fully and honestly briefed on the climate and nature crisis.
In November 2025, more than 1,000 MPs, peers and leaders from business, culture, faith, sport and the media gathered at Westminster Central Hall for a briefing on climate.
The national event was made into a 50-minute public film, The People’s Emergency Briefing, which is being screened in communities across the UK.
