A NEW bus route launching next month will allow passengers to travel from Eastbourne to Gatwick Airport for just £3.
The new service, operated by Metrobus, will launch on Saturday, 9 May 2026, with route 500 providing a direct connection between Eastbourne and Gatwick via Willingdon, Hailsham, Uckfield and East Grinstead.
Under the scheme, a capped maximum adult fare of £3 will apply across the entire route meaning passengers can travel the full distance to the airport for the same price as a short local journey.
The service will run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with buses operating up to every hour making it a practical option for early flights, late arrivals and shift workers.
Route 500 is being introduced in partnership with East Sussex County Council, West Sussex County Council and London Gatwick, and replaces the existing 54 and 261 services to create a more direct and efficient journey.
As well as the low fares, concessionary passes will also be accepted, making the service even more accessible for local residents.

Passengers will be able to plan journeys ahead of the launch on 9 May.
