EFFORTS are being stepped up across Eastbourne this summer to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) and ensure public spaces remain ‘safe and welcoming’.
PCSO Hadlow, who covers the Hampden Park area, has outlined a plan to address problem hotspots during the warmer months, following a rise in reports from residents and local businesses.
She said: “This summer, I’ll be paying close attention to areas that have been repeatedly flagged for anti-social behaviour. That includes increased patrols in key locations and working closely with the community to make a real difference.”
Among the measures being introduced is a renewed focus on Hampden Park’s popular Skate Park. In partnership with the Friends of Hampden Park group and through ongoing discussions with local young people, improvements are being considered to make the space more inclusive and enjoyable during the school holidays.
A stronger uniformed presence will also be seen throughout the park, particularly in response to concerns about fires and other disruptive behaviour. PCSO Hadlow is working alongside Eastbourne Borough Council to address these issues head-on.
Outside the park, additional evening patrols are being planned for the station car park, where drug-related activity has been reported. Youth-related anti-social behaviour at Eastbourne Sports Park is also being monitored closely.
