Man arrested after reports of bladed weapon in Eastbourne Street

POLICE swooped on a busy Eastbourne street this morning (Sunday) after reports of a man carrying a bladed weapon.

Sussex Police were called to Seaside at around 7.30am following concerns for public safety.

Officers attended the scene and arrested a 33-year-old man, described as being of no fixed address, on suspicion of possession of a weapon.

He was also further arrested in connection with outstanding theft offences.

The man remains in police custody while enquiries continue.

Police confirmed that no injuries were reported during the incident and there is believed to be no ongoing risk to the public.
