POLICE have renewed their appeal for witnesses following a fatal collision on the A27 near Pevensey which claimed the life of a 20-year-old man.
The collision, involving two vans, happened on the westbound carriageway approaching Golden Jubilee Way shortly before 6.30am on Monday, July 13.
The driver of a white Volkswagen Caddy van, a 20-year-old man from Heathfield, suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital.
Sadly, he later died as a result of his injuries. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
A 31-year-old man from Bexhill, who was driving a white Mercedes Sprinter van, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drug driving.
Sussex Police said officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward if they have not already spoken to police.
Investigators are particularly keen to hear from motorists who passed the Volkswagen Caddy after it had broken down in the westbound carriageway before the collision occurred.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has dashcam footage or other relevant information, is asked to report it to Sussex Police online or by calling 101, quoting Operation Wickham.
