RESIDENTS are being invited to have their say on plans for around 240 new homes at Sharnfold Farm, between Stone Cross and Hailsham, before a planning application is submitted.
Developers behind the proposed next phase of the Sharnfold Farm development are holding a public consultation next week, giving local people the opportunity to view the draft proposals and provide feedback before they are finalised.
The consultation relates to Phase 3 of the wider masterplan for the site, which lies off Hailsham Road, Stone Cross.
The proposals form part of a long-term vision for Sharnfold Farm, which extends to almost 33 hectares and could eventually provide around 350 homes, alongside community, retail and recreational facilities, according to the proposals.
Planning permission has already been granted for 120 homes on the eastern side of the site, with that section having been designed as part of the overall masterplan.
The current consultation focuses on how the remaining phase of approximately 240 homes should be designed before a formal planning application is submitted to Wealden District Council.
In addition to new housing, the emerging proposals include the creation of community facilities, open green spaces, children’s play areas, walking and cycling routes, biodiversity enhancements and the sensitive restoration of the historic Sharnfold Farm barns for business and creative uses.
Residents are invited to attend a public exhibition where the draft plans will be on display and members of the project team will be available to answer questions and gather feedback.
The exhibition will take place on Monday, July 13, from 2.30pm until 7pm, at Sharnfold Farm Barn, Hailsham Road, Stone Cross, BN24 5BU.
Those unable to attend in person, or who would like to find out more, can also view the proposals and submit comments online via the Sharnfold Farm consultation website.
The consultation is intended to help shape the final proposals before they are submitted as part of the planning application process.
