POLICE have launched an investigation following the death of a 44-year-old woman in Eastbourne, with officers appealing for witnesses and information.
Emergency services were called to an alleyway in Belmore Road on April 2 after reports of a woman in cardiac arrest. Despite efforts at the scene, she was sadly pronounced dead.
The woman, who was from the local area, has since been formally identified and her next of kin have been informed.
Sussex Police said her death is currently being treated as unexplained, with enquiries ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
As part of the investigation, officers have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to, believing he may have information that could assist their enquiries.
He is described as a white man of slim build, wearing a grey tracksuit, dark trainers and a blue baseball cap.
Anyone who recognises the man or has information about the incident is urged to contact police online or call 101, quoting reference CAD 1303 of April 2.
