POLICE were called to a hotel in Burlington Place, Eastbourne, after a man reportedly threatened to harm himself in the early hours of this morning (29 November).
Officers were alerted at 7.50am and arrived to find the man had barricaded himself inside a room and was refusing to engage with them.
A police spokesperson said specialist officers attempted to negotiate with him for a period of time before eventually gaining entry to the room.
The man was arrested on suspicion of assault and was taken into custody, where he remains.
Police confirmed that no one was injured during the incident and stressed that there was no risk to the wider public at any point.
