A LARGE emergency response was triggered on the A259 Pevensey Bay Road in Eastbourne this evening (Thursday, 2 October) after a police tactical stop ended in a head-on collision.
Photos from the scene show a marked traffic unit involved in a head-on tactical stop with another vehicle.

Several police cars, along with fire crews and ambulance teams, attended the incident and the air ambulance was also deployed but later returned to base.
The driver of the Suzuki vehicle and two police officers in the police vehicle were all taken to hospital with injuries. The driver remains in hospital undergoing medical treatment while the officers have since been discharged.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the collision and any witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, is asked to get in touch.

The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the scene.
